UPS offers online printing on their website, but not on the app or mobile website. Fedex, it’s major competitor does offer online printing on both it’s app and mobile website. I feel like this is driving more customers to Fedex. For example, a person my not be near their computer and they need to print a large project, their only option would be to use the FedEx app or mobile website.
The solution was to design an app where people would be able to print with their phone. The app would also include everting from it’s current app like the track package feature and price estimator. Today file are not only on our phones, but on the cloud too, so the user can use major cloud services ones like drop box, google drive, one drive, and phone storage to upload their design to the app. I also think that if a user is not a designer, templates should be included on the app so user could simply edit the text and print online.
The first step I took was to conduct a survey to determine what other features people would like on the current UPS app. After my research, I created low-fidelity prototype to use on usability testing. The the high-fidelity prototype after making changes suggested on the usability test. For a detailed description of the steps please see the images below.
November 2016
I used Adobe Illustrator to create the mood board.
I created a low-fidelity prototype first to conduct usability testing so that my users wouldn't focus about design yet, but instead on usability. They suggested many changes, so I applied them on the high fidelity prototype.
This is the high fidelity prototype. I used Adobe XD to create it. If you would like to see the interactive prototype click here.
